We all love saving money that’s for sure. Most of us though forget that it’s the small things around the house that we can do to save on our electricity bill. Now that Spring is here open your windows, let that fresh air in and turn off your air conditioning. So many people think once we get into Spring that the air conditioner needs to flip on right away. Our Florida weather in April and May is not that sticky, humid air typically so we encourage you to #1 open your windows and save your air conditioning energy expense for the Summer months when it is so terribly hot you can’t live without the air conditioning on.

#2 – use your dryer less….yes hang your clothes out to dry with our Spring time sun. Leave the dryer off and let the Florida sunshine dry your clothes.

#3 – as your electronics break or you upgrade on appliances look for energy efficient ones. This includes light bulbs and light fixtures. Many are now made with more energy efficient bulbs that don’t draw as much electricity.

#4 – turn off the electronics and make your family members go outside and ride bikes or go for a walk. Get your family members off the computer, television, iPad, phone and any other electronic device that is entertaining them. Encourage your family members to get more physically active to save on your household energy costs and also to improve their physical fitness.

#5 – this one is our biggest tip – call Del-Air Electrical Services for a home energy review. Our Central Florida electricians will visit your home to review your energy use. We can tell you where you are using the most energy and give you tips on how to reduce your energy expense.

So many people don’t realize the electricity use that is actually being consumed by the other people in their family. Even though you personally turn the lights off when you leave the room doesn’t mean your other household members are as proactive.

With Summer coming air conditioning expenses will be on the rise so we highly encourage homeowners to do an assessment of all their energy uses. This simple step will put more coin in your pocket and could possibly give longer life to your electronics and appliances.

If you’re looking for a way to change some of the dim areas in your house, consider adding creative lighting. The possibilities are endless and the trained technicians at Del Air can provide expert advice and ideas. A very simple update could be to add a dimmer to the lighting of the room. Set the mood, change the atmosphere or simply provide ample lighting so you can read. Dimmers can change or improve the use of a room or space.

Are you looking to add, replace or remove a light switch? Sometimes light switches need to be replaced and updated. Although you can purchase a switch yourself at your local hardware store, it is not recommended that you attempt to perform the switch replacement yourself. This project should only be trusted in the hands of a licensed, skilled electrician.
There is a high risk of electrocution and damage to your homes electrical system that could result in an electrical fire

If you’ve done some remodeling or re-arranging of the furniture to freshen up the look of a room, you may wish that light switch was in a different place. Del-Air Electrical can move that light switch with no trouble!

Changing the lighting in your home will really make a difference. For the electrical help you need, give Del Air a call. We will do the job right and keep you safe.

Do you dread surprise home expenses? Of course you do– it stinks. One way that you can have some assurance that your home is protected is to have surge protection on your appliances and high-end electronics. Almost without exception, today’s appliances have at least 1 circuit board (computer) in them and some as many as 4 boards.

The average home receives 20 surges per day that can potentially damage sensitive electronics. If you have ever flipped on a light switch and blown a light bulb, you have experienced a surge. This is caused by “dirty” electricity coming into your home with no clamping of voltage and/or amperage.

As an appliance repair technician, we frequently replace as many as 10 computers and appliances per week. The average cost of such a repair is over $300.00 and sometimes as high as $650.00.

We offer “whole house” surge protection and power conditioning from the leading manufacturer in the industry. We also offer the smaller surge protectors to protect your appliances, TVs, computers, etc. from internal surges. Don’t forget to protect your TVs and Computers from surges through your TV signal or Internet connection!

Our Surge Protector/Power Conditioner, “cleans” up the electricity coming into your home and sends any extra voltage and amperage to ground keeping it from your circuit boards and eliminating unnecessary repairs. Frequently a home can see an average savings of 5-10% on their electricity bill due to the cleaning up of the power coming in and a reduction of excess heat. Everything that is electrical will last an average of 30% longer, because excess voltage will no longer be allowed into your equipment.

Once you meet our professional, friendly electricians, enjoy the convenience of guaranteed on-time appointment and experience our high level of customer service, we think you’ll become a client for life. Give us a call and we’ll help you with surge protection and any other electrical needs that your home may have. (877) 906-1113

Del-Air specializes in various types of electrical wiring but one of the common ones people inquire about it aluminum wiring in the home. The first thing we’d like to mention is that not all aluminum wiring is unsafe. Aluminum wiring is still used today and is installed safely and properly presents no danger at all.

When we talk about unsafe Aluminum Wiring, we are referencing the smaller Aluminum wiring that was used in homes in the 1960′s and 1970′s. You may have been warned or have seen pictures of burnt aluminum wiring in the back of a receptacle. That does happen occasionally with older wiring. The biggest problem starts at the points of connection, the old aluminum wiring expands and contacts at a much greater rate than the metals used at the connection points. This creates air gaps, arcing and then fire.

Another issue can be a failed aluminum to copper spliced connection. Even though this is one method many will use to limit the dangers of the older aluminum wiring, we here at Del-Air Electrical do not use this connectors for anything but a temporary repair. There is only one, proven, time test solution to the fire hazard of old aluminum wiring. The complete removal and replacement which we are trained experts to perform.

If your home has aluminum wiring or if you’re concerned about your current electrical set-up, don’t hesitate to contact us. We’re experts and are here to help. CONTACT US FOR A FREE REPLACEMENT COST ANALYST!!
